June 22, 2024College Money Matters Launches Updated Website To Address Today’s Realities Of Financing College:
Website makes a complicated process straightforward, interactive, and personalized.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 13, 2024, Larchmont, NY — Paying for college remains a confusing process that greatly impacts both short and long-term finances for most families. College Money Matters, a nonprofit information resource, offers crucial unbiased advice on how to make a college education most affordable. College Money Matters reached 62,000 families last year with free quality information; no advertising or sign in required.
College Money Matters was created to help families understand the workings of the college application process, to arm them with greater control and more options. The new updated website www.collegemoneymatters.org provides easy-to-understand articles, videos, and interactive content on student loans, including simulators to try out different levels of borrowing.
Because most families and students concentrate on applications in the Fall, they delay cost considerations until the Spring. This happens in part because the real costs are not known until Spring acceptance packages. But the result is that they miss out on opportunities early in the process that can help them end up with an acceptable and affordable choice. So, when families first begin to look for scholarships in the Spring, they have already missed most of the scholarship opportunities and application deadlines.
To help students and their families make time-sensitive deadlines and decisions, the website layout follows the student’s journey from the beginning with “Applying to College,” “Financial Aid and FAFSA,” “Paying for College,” and “Before you Decide” tabs. There is also special content for parents and an advice column based on anecdotal stories gathered from high school graduates.
College Money Matters also features links to other sites that we consider best in class, as well as ways to avoid common scams. The site is a one-stop shop for free, impartial quality information for families.
Funded by donors and users, College Money Matters’ mission is to provide free and easy-to-understand information about paying for college to students and their families. We do not take advertisements or sell user information. We are unaffiliated and are not selling any products or services. College Money Matters is a 501 c 3 organization.
